We've begun a new school year together and I'm excited to have each and every one of you as parents and partners in your child's education. Our first week has come to a close and I'm hoping that your child has had a great one! We have spent some time learning about each other with some getting to know you activities. Ask your child what we did with toilet paper... (I'm afraid they were slightly nervous when I pulled out the roll).
I sent an email to everyone that I had an email address for and I'm hoping to hear back from everyone soon to ensure that I've put in accurate email addresses and that our path of communication is open.
Homework:
You should have seen spelling pages come home this week as well as some math. Some students were able to complete the math during our "study hall" time at the end of the day but I asked them to take it home anyway in hopes that you get to see it and get an understanding of what we are working on in math. You will continue to see these things as well as a reading log (they'll get on Monday), and a reading bookmark with their reading book on Tuesday. Remember that the time it takes your child to read for the bookmark can be added as reading minutes to their reading log.
Assessments:
We will continue some beginning of the year assessments next week and the following week.
Friday Folders and grades:
You child took a few things home in his/her Friday folder yesterday. In it was their spelling test for this week and while I graded it so they could see how they did, I did not put it in the grade book as we were just getting a feel for third grade. There are other papers however that I'll get graded this weekend and they will be in next week's Friday folder. But like I mentioned, you may find smiley faces for check marks on some just due to adjustments to school and new curriculum.
Have a super weekend!
