Top Readers for the Month of February
Drumroll please.......
The student with the highest number of minutes read at home is Aspen Falcone with 712 minutes. The next highest reader is Jack Kreilein with 673 minutes. Finally, the third highest reader is Jayce Campbell with 540 minutes. Great job readers!!
Our class read a total of 5,879 minutes at home (this total reflects the reading logs that are turned in each Monday). Book-It coupons are being sent home tomorrow with your child if he/she made their goal of 300 minutes for the month.

Service Learning Update
Today we had some spare time to discuss the bags we'll be putting together for our service learning project. As donations are sent in, we are keeping track of them with a tally chart. A few of you have sent in donations for the project-thank you very much. There is still time to help us out if you can. Please send in onesies, pacifiers, board books, any safety items, receiving blankets, or anything you feel appropriate for a new born baby. The bags we are putting together will contain several of these goodies to get them started.

Endangered Animal Projects
The endangered animal projects are due this Friday, March 6th. Your child is welcome to bring them in any day this week. Remind them to put their name on it.
Spirit Days
For a little fun, 3rd and 4th grade are having spirit days this week. My hope is that it won't be too distracting during ISTEP week. The schedule is as follows:
Tuesday: "We're off and running" wear exercise clothing
Wednesday: "Hit it out of the park!" wear sports clothing
Thursday: "Bulldogs test better than the rest" wear bulldog clothing (or purple)
Friday: "Hats off to a great week of testing" wear your favorite hat.
ALSO: 4th grade has challenged us (all third graders) to see who will have the most kids show up for movie night, 3rd grade or 4th grade. Some of the teachers will be working that movie night because the proceeds go to the Komen foundation: I will be there! Ticket prices are $4 and each child needs a permission slip. Instructions for the permission slip were in the Brown Barker on Friday. I spoke up and told 4th grade they were goin' down!! I hope I didn't put my foot in my mouth, help!!
